David Murphy has more than 20 years of demonstrated successes in driving market expansion, revenue growth and operational excellence at large established companies such as IBM Tivoli, HP and Mercury Interactive. Prior to joining Blue Coat, Mr. Murphy was senior vice president for HP’s LaserJet and Enterprise Solutions business unit within the company’s Imaging and Printing Group (IPG). He was responsible for setting the group’s go-to-market strategy and worked closely with the channel to drive growth across all customer segments.
Mr. Murphy joined HP through its acquisition of Mercury Interactive, where he was chief financial officer and facilitated HP’s acquisition of the company. In his role, he was responsible for the company’s finance and business operations as well as market expansion and acquisitions. Prior to that, Mr. Murphy was president and general manager of IBM Tivoli, a leader in the security, risk and compliance management market. He was responsible for day-to-day operations and drove aggressive expansion into new and adjacent security markets, doubling sales during his four-year tenure.
Mr. Murphy also served as CEO at Asera, head of the private equity investments group at Perot Systems, and partner at McKinsey & Company.
He holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University, an M.S.E.E from Florida Atlantic University, and a B.S. in computer science from the University of Louisville.
