Selected Exclusively by France Telecom to Secure and Accelerate Web Infrastructure
PARIS, July 29, 2003 - Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI) today announced that France Telecom selected Blue Coat as the exclusive vendor for securing and accelerating the Tour de France Web infrastructure, www.letour.com. Since the race began on July 5, 2003, the site has experienced more than 13 million unique visitors viewing 160 million pages, delivering a peak performance of 435 Mbps of content, twice the throughput achieved during the race last year.
Blue Coat's market-leading secure proxy appliances have been deployed in reverse-proxy mode to deliver maximum Web performance, security and availability for www.letour.com. Tour de France administrators benefit from lower costs, a more scalable infrastructure and defense from denial-of-service attacks.
