Central Tanshi On-line Trading Deploys Blue Coat and Code Green to Protect Sensitive Customer and Transaction Data
Joint Solution Inspects Web-based and SSL-encrypted Traffic to Prevent Customer and Transaction Data Leaks
SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 14, 2008 - Blue Coat Systems, Inc., the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Central Tanshi On-line Trading Co., Ltd. has jointly deployed Blue Coat® ProxySG® appliances and Code Green Content Inspection appliances to prevent sensitive customer and transaction data from leaving the corporate network. With this solution, Central Tanshi On-line Trading can guard against data leaks not only through corporate email, but also through Web-based and SSL-encrypted applications.
Prior to adding the Blue Coat-Code Green solution, Central Tanshi restricted Web applications because of its concern that sensitive data could be leaked through Web-based applications. Its corporate policy on the transmission of confidential data meant Central Tanshi needed the capacity to inspect both internal and external applications, including SSL-encrypted traffic. Now, the Blue Coat and Code Green appliances enable Central Tanshi to use Web applications to increase employee productivity and enhance customer communication by inspecting and controlling uploaded information to prevent data leakage.
"Originally, our security policy prohibited the private use of external online services, such as Webmail and storage, to protect our customer and transaction data from leaving the trading network," said Yagawa Kazuo, deputy director of the Systems Department at Central Tanshi. "However, it made our business inefficient and interfered with our online promotions, so we deployed Blue Coat and Code Green instead to increase our efficiency and protect our sensitive data."
The Code Green Content Inspection Appliance evaluates whether data contains confidential information by extracting characteristic text strings data on the network. Blue Coat ProxySG appliances can enhance this inspection capability by decrypting SSL-encrypted data in real-time, so Code Green appliances can determine if any sensitive data is present. With this joint solution, Central Tanshi can utilize external Web-based applications to increase productivity while protecting the customer and transaction data that is critical to its business.
