Secure Web Gateway Solution Provides First Line of Defense Against Web-based Threats
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 29, 2010 – Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI), the technology leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that COCC, one of the fastest growing financial data processing services in the U.S., has deployed Blue Coat® ProxySG® appliances with Blue Coat WebFilter to provide its 170 bank and credit union clients with secure Internet access. The flexibility and powerful reporting of the Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution enables COCC to establish and enforce client-specific policies, providing a first line of defense against Web threats.
“Our primary goal is to secure our clients’ data, and the Blue Coat solution gives us the tools, from SSL inspection to reporting, that we need to provide that security,” said Brent Biernat, vice president of networking services and document processing at COCC. “As regulatory and threat landscapes become more complex, we can continue to address the security requirements of our customers with the Blue Coat solution.”
COCC is owned by its clients – community banks and credit unions – and has cultivated a reputation for delivering next-generation technology solutions that deliver top performance while ensuring compliance with Federal and state regulations. With the Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution, COCC provides the Web-traffic visibility, malware protection and reporting required by its clients to comply with a broad range of financial regulations.
With the ProxySG appliances, COCC has the ability to inspect encrypted SSL and HTTPS traffic to ensure both regulatory compliance and consistent enforcement of its clients’ corporate IT policies. Additionally, the ProxySG appliances integrate with Active Directory to authenticate users and apply appropriate policies. Blue Coat Reporter then enables COCC to distribute reporting functions, providing each client with the ability to create custom reports, monitor compliance to specific policies, track Web activity and discover potentially infected end user systems.
“The financial services industry faces the dual challenges of an ever-changing regulatory environment and a rapid increase in Web-based threats,” said Carrie Oakes, vice president of product marketing at Blue Coat Systems. “With the Blue Coat solution, COCC offers an invaluable service that provides its clients with the tools they need to solve these challenges, freeing them to focus on running their business.”
Blue Coat Channel Advantage Partner Accunet led the design, deployment and installation of the solution. Accunet provided the in-depth technical competencies, industry knowledge and personalized service that COCC required to optimize deployment for maximum business value and competitive advantage.
The Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution utilizes a hybrid architecture that combines an on-premise presence at the Internet gateway with a cloud-based collaborative defense, the Blue Coat WebPulse™ service. WebPulse unites more than 62 million users to provide on-demand security intelligence about the latest Web-based threats. The discovery of a threat by one user immediately protects all users.
