New Zealand’s National Telecommunications Provider Offers Blue Coat Cloud Service as Managed Security Offering
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 26, 2012 – Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a market leader in Web security and WAN optimization solutions, today announced that Kordia, New Zealand’s national broadcast and telecommunications provider, is delivering the Blue Coat Cloud Service as a managed security offering for businesses that want to extend corporate security and compliance policies to protect their users on all networks in any location. The Blue Coat Cloud Service delivers the enterprise-grade threat protection technology that is used by 85 percent of the FORTUNE Global companies.
The Kordia managed security offering, which will be hosted in New Zealand, expands the global presence of the Blue Coat Cloud Service, giving all customers of the service a new point of presence to access when they are in the region. The global infrastructure of the Blue Coat Cloud Service utilizes a meshed network in which all points of presence, including the one hosted at Kordia, are interconnected, allowing customers to connect with any individual point of presence as they move around the world. This unique mesh network delivers high availability for the Blue Coat Cloud Service and enables security without compromising performance.
“Enterprise-class security that can follow users as they move from location to location and network to network is crucial for businesses struggling to mitigate the risks of data loss and web-based malware threats,” said Bruce Bennie, managing director for Blue Coat Systems in Australia and New Zealand. “With the Blue Coat Cloud Service powering its new managed security offering, Kordia can deliver to their customers the comprehensive protection and granular controls they need.”
The Blue Coat Cloud Service delivers robust threat protection that is backed by the Blue Coat WebPulse™ collaborative defense. The WebPulse defense receives more than one billion real-time requests daily from 75 million users worldwide, providing deep visibility into the web ecosystem and malnets (malware networks), the infrastructures embedded in the Internet that are utilized to launch ongoing attacks against unsuspecting users. By identifying and tracking malnets, the WebPulse defense can block attacks at their source, before they launch. Using this and other advanced analysis techniques, the WebPulse defense blocks 3.3 million threats per day.
The Blue Coat Cloud Service further enhances enterprise-grade protection service with the availability of Customer Manager, a portal that gives Kordia a customizable, centralized view of all customers utilizing the service. Customer Manager enables Kordia to:
- Create customizable service offerings for granular content, application and access policy creation; reporting on web behavior to identify potentially infected end user systems; and troubleshooting
- Easily manage customer billing and renewals
“With more employees accessing social media sites like Facebook and utilizing web-based applications at the workplace, it’s vital for businesses to have a robust web security solution in place,” says Drew Gilpin, general manager at Kordia. “Blue Coat’s industry-leading solution allows us to create a truly unique service offering that will enhance the customer experience for New Zealand businesses that require robust, comprehensive protection and control that can extend to their employees wherever they are.”
