Hampshire Constabulary

Accelerates access to centralized files for mobile officers and employees across two counties. Hampshire Constabulary is responsible for policing Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in Southern England. They are committed to providing excellent service to the communities they serve; this commitment relies, in part, on the Information Technology and Communications (ITC) infrastructure that keeps the 7,000 employees,in 85 police sites, across two counties, connected.

A slow login process for centralized applications, such as print and file services, bogged police down in administrative tasks and paperwork, limiting the time the could spend in the field.

The Blue Coat ProxySG appliances were deployed to accelerate applications and content delivery to remote locations and mobile officers, where bandwidth is low and compute resources in high demand. Now,officers can quickly and easily access the applications and forms they need to minimize the time spent on administrative tasks and maximize the time spent on their beat.

  • Reduced login times from 20 minutes to a few seconds
  • Visibility into which applications and protocols are being used
  • More efficient troubleshooting
  • Better bandwidth management
